North we went this weekend, up and away, far into the mountains.
It was our first vacation in a very long time. One day and two
nights we stayed at a desert paradise during the “low season.”
We had our own little spot!
A view of the mountains, a lake and of course, ever-shifting October fog.
We had our own private doorstep.
It was wet and cold, but breathtakingly beautiful.
We warmed ourselves preparing the people food at the BBQ.
We went for a fun rain walk overlooking the vineyards.
Miles introduced himself to a local Border Collie.
…And back to warmth we went.
Miles heartily enjoyed his vacation dinner.
Miles met the owner’s dogs, a very sweet pair of golden retrievers.
After a wild canine dance party, it was getting late.
(You know it is late when a Welsh terrier squints.)
We made our way to our cabin, and got cozy for the night.
Miles loves snuggling by a fireplace.
The next morning, Miles woke me up EARLY. After
my shower, I found him looking out the window…
To our great excitement, the sky was filled
with sunshine! But alas, we had to leave.
Such a short trip, but so sweet!
And alas, back home we went.
