Last Sunday, Miles and I did a half day of an agility competition. My friend Ashley was there with her Border Terriers Maverick and Benson. Maverick is 10 years old, and competes in the same class as Miles. Benson is 3.5 years old, and is following in his big bro’s footsteps. Ever since pestering Ashley to borrow her iPhone charger last year at Agility Regionals during a rain storm, I’ve gotten to know her well, and we’ve really hit it off. We have a lot of the same interests — especially our sense of sarcastic humor and our deep love of crazy terriers (and yes, those two traits might naturally go hand-in-hand)! After we finished at the trial, Ashley invited me to go to one of her favorite walking spots in the area. She lives relatively close to the area and knows the trails well. Miles and I are always up for new outdoor adventures, and even more so when good company is included!
The drive from the trial site to the trail site was spectacular. This is a clip of what my dashcam captured. Instant mountain emersion on the way to the dikes and marshland surrounding Pitt Lake.
Dogs, Water, Mountains. I can’t ask for more.
The walking area was excellent. Miles has never romped with Maverick or Benson before, and their first time roaming together went swimmingly.
Three wild wiry terriers, just enjoying being free.
I grew up in Western Oregon around water, endless greenery, and mountains, yet, these kinds of views never fail to fill me with feelings of bliss.
The goofy wild wiry terrier gang! I am really laughing about how close together Miles and Benson posed. For those of you who don’t know “this level” of terrier well, even the friendliest dont usually just lean against each other like it’s nothing. Even Miles usually leans a bit away from whomever he is near, just in case they need space. Miles and Benson were especially instant friends and felt totally relaxed in each other’s space. Pretty wonderful to see!
I love the touching paws.
