Winter Weaves

Weaves can be a challenging part of dog agility (for our primer go here). In competitions, there are a lot of rules for this obstacle, and dogs need to be able to snake through up to 12 poles. Before the last competition of 2013, I knew we’d need to complete the maximum number to move on to Advanced — my goal for our first year. Our class time was limited and I couldn’t afford to buy weaves, so, I ended up designing and building weaves (DIY post soon). We don’t have a backyard or room indoors, so I set them up in our front yard (See outcome of our practicing here). Our street doesn’t have much traffic, but is a popular spot for strolls. The location of our weaves has had a funny side effect: neighbors make a point now to stop to ask us how agility is going! When December rolled around, I decided to dress up our weaves with festive lights, and the outcome has been very fun:

Emma and Miles! Me and Chester just love your Winter Weaves and Holiday Wishes! We are very impressed with your ingenuity, making your own DIY weave poles…they look very official! And can Miles weave through them, or what?!! Wonderful pictures. Love the artistic color blurring! Oh, how I would love to see Miles in action at a match! Just watching Miles' videos and I'm clapping my hands and shouting for pure joy! And your Christmas wishes? Well, they ALL came true.. We had family, snow, friends, and even winter adventure. Truly the best Christmas card we'd got! We love you to pieces! Darcy and Chester.
