A Moment of Bliss

by Emma Kesler, CDBC, CPDT-KA

Deep in the woods, a hummingbird lapped the overflowing nectar of a summertime blossom.

Lower down in the brush, a little rabbit happily hopped quietly along in her day.

In a log nearby, a mother bird was celebrating her empty nest with a bit of summertime cleaning.

Not far away on a quiet hiking trail bridge, a dog was also enjoying nature. His powerful little nose had located the former site of an exquisite, albeit microscopic bit of unrecognizable bile or excrement, which had been washed away 4 days prior by warm summer showers. All that lingered was the intoxicating scent, which set the stage for one prolonged moment of bliss.

Stunning photos! You do a great job with Miles’ paw pads. How do you trim them so thoroughly? Bailey’s hair there grows so fast I can’t keep up! LOL

Glad you like the photographs Gail! The only part of Miles’ coat that I trim is between his paw pads, especially since we go places that have a lot of sap. I’ve been using these mini clippers forever. They are PERFECT for this purpose and cut ultra-close without any issues. I probably do Miles’ feet once a month. 🙂

In Miles’ whole life, he has never come away from rolling smelling bad at all. He seems to prefer scents that are undetectable to the human nose!

There is something about moments frozen in time that can make them even funnier to re-live than when they happened!

Thank you Darcy!! I have been working at it all of my life, and I love it so much. I also always try to work on my arm strength carrying around a heavy camera on long hikes! Your words mean the world to me…

Miles was as always wonderful to see, now in his total bliss. His zest for life lifts my weary heart. Often in these trying times we lose focus on what truly matters. You have a unique knack in roping us back into peace, tranquility, and now bliss. Thanks to you two for sharing what is important.

This comment really touches me Kim. I am so glad to help be a part of making people feel better. Well ultimately it all goes back to the wild animal that pooped on a hiking trail bridge… Who would’ve know it would provide us with so much happiness!

This is the best thing I have seen in ages! I love their joy when they’re rolling on something. Oliver chooses to roll on dead worms, which doesn’t smell very nice at all!!

That means so much coming from someone as creative as yourself! Dead worms, wow! For some reason the things Miles rolls in never smell. I am amazed at the power of the canine olfactory system!

Wow, awesome photography! We do love to see Miles — and bliss is the right word for it.

You shame me once again. If Stella was off leash, the final picture would be a poster offering a reward for a missing dog. (Time for more lessons.)
