Adventures in Miniature

“All my life I have loved dogs and wished that I could give each and every one of them the perfect home. That being impossible, I do the next closest thing: I get to know as many of them as possible, through creating their miniatures. Most owners tell me stories about the dog I’m doing or why they need them done, and I as I work, they become, for a short time, my own. I love each and every one of them.”

Emma Kesler, CDBC, CPDT-KA

Emma Kesler, CDBC, CPDT-KA is a terrier behavior specialist who has been conducting live online sessions and behavior consultations for nearly a decade. Emma shares her life with her Welsh Terrier, Miles. When Miles was young he was deemed "impossible to train" by a veterinarian and several trainers, who recommended resorting to old punishment-based methods. The quest to figure out how to work terriers in new and different ways became Emma's passion. Miles is Emma's trusted copilot, has set many performance records for terriers, and best of all, helps Emma coach others on how to share absolutely wonderful lives with their terriers.

Oh Emma!! These are the GREATEST ever! I have NEVER had so many darling shots taken with a mini! Miles is so handsome — I was very, very excited to get the chance to create such a beautiful dog 🙂 He is a perfect gentleman, doing an excellent job posing for you. This is such a wonderful, FUN and laugh out loud post! I can't thank you enugh 🙂 I loved it!

Such a wonderful gallery of portraits and Alice, I just absolutely love the quote most of all! Miles is such a great model and I love the tilted head while looking at his mini 🙂

I am glad everyone enjoys the pairing. I can't get over how identical they are. My head is just exploding from the cuteness.

Side note — I was very careful, but Miles still managed to whisk his mini off for a quick romp around the yard during the shoot. I nearly fainted. It happened in the middle of the photoshoot, so as you can see, mini was unharmed. Close freakin' call, AKA, life with a terrier. I think Mini Miles will call a wall-mounted little display box his home now.

Alice — your artwork is incredible. So close to life, in shape, texture, expression and personality. What precious keepsakes. I can't believe what you can do. And that your miniatures are posable? Wow! I had a lot of fun thinking of how to pose the two of them. And most of all right now, I am thrilled that you love the photos.

Hahahaha, good to know that Miles isn't so perfectly wonderful as to be immune to naughty Terrier behavior. Gotta love Terriers, so much character! 😉
