Miles strikes a pose on the red carpet of the Dog Writers Association of America Award Banquet in NJ, just a day after his fantastic time at the Masters Agility Championship at Westminster in NYC! I am very excited to announce that Miles & Emma has been awarded two honors from the Dog Writers Association of America Awards this year:
Miles & Emma Blog Wins Fidose of Reality Dog Blogger Award
Sponsored by Darlene and Carol Bryant on behalf of FidoseofReality.com, this award is given to a non-corporate dog blogger. Composing a quality dog product or service review is an art. The winning dog blog post exemplifies the elements of a solid dog product or service review that goes above and beyond the basics. Entries will be judged on writing style, grammar, punctuation, imagery/video, and the overall way the review is presented. The award consists of a $300 cash prize and a trophy. – DWAA Website
Carol Bryant is the president of the DWAA, and is an award-winning blogger herself for her blog Fidose of Reality. She recently co-authored the “manual” for dog blogging! It is a great honor to be recognized with an award created and sponsored by an individual who is so accomplished in the world of dog writing and blogging. DWAA Awards are not judged by their sponsors, but rather, by a panel of industry professionals. It was wonderful to meet the sponsor of the award and for her to tell me how excited she was about the winning post. Miles and Carol’s Cocker Spaniel Dexter also had the opportunity to meet, and had what looked like an equally enjoyable chat!

Below: Miles was so tired from the day before (competing at Westminster agility!) and sight-seeing that I think here at around 10pm at the awards banquet, he was deliriously hoping my excitement over this object meant it was edible!
Attending the Dog Writers Association of America Awards
The Dog Writers Association of America was founded in 1935. The annual awards banquet is held adjacent to the Westminster Kennel Club show. This was the first year that Miles and I have been able to attend. The event was sold out! Every moment of the evening was exciting for me. I met so many fascinating people, absorbed lectures by industry experts, and enjoyed celebrating so many people’s achievements. My date for the evening was my friend Denise Yates, founder of Welsh Terrier Record Holders, who was awarded the Walter R. Fletcher Memorial Award.
As I write this, I am laughing, because I can’t stop thinking about how delicious my dinner was that evening (photo here)! Thank you to everyone who has supported us in our blogging journey. May your next dinner be as tasty as mine was at the DWAA Banquet!
