When Miles and I visit my parents, I opt to hike this long footpath almost daily. The first few times back, the narrowness of the path and the brambles, roots and fallen trees feel awkward to walk through. You feel like you have to be very aware: if you don’t pay close attention, you might trip at any moment. The beauty of it is that if you walk it often, you develop muscle memory. My dad wasn’t convinced about this trail at first; but soon developed the same muscle memory and started wanting to walk it daily with me. Have you ever watched videos of mountain goats, and wished you could be so agile? Well you can’t be! But, I think walking a trail like this frequently is as close as a person can come..
{ Miles enjoyed the “animal expressways!” Pretty soon, my dad started joining him and ducking his 6’6 frame under the fallen trees. I stuck to the detours. }
{ I am curious who’s scratching post this is }
{ No snow, but it’s still a crunchy winter wonderland. }
{ The electric brambles bring Miles alive… }
{ When Miles is in his element, he spends the whole hike: zipping ahead, sniffing and falling behind, then roaring to us — and way ahead of us again, to repeat the process! }
{ Pure happiness, little burs and all. }
- Miles’ coat is the Downpour Suit by Hurtta, size 14. The Downpour is lightweight, keeps him warm all over, and fits him perfectly. It looks pretty funny but seems to supercharge him. It’s amazing what a dog can do in the cold when he is comfortable! This was Miles’ go-to coat on our trip. It is a cold-weather essential for us now.
He looks like a different dog when his ears are flipped up and the view is from behind. Like a chihuahua-welsh terrier mix hahah.
Hahaha!!! Are you sure it isn’t the leggings???
Beautiful, and what beautiful memories you are making!
Agreed! How have you been Mary Anne?
He is so handsome! So sporty in his new outfit! The scratching post looks like bear scratches similar to one’s I’ve seen in Colorado when hiking, yipes! I have Reggie sit in my lap and look at your pictures. I can feel his respiration change when he looks at the running photos. He understands that Miles is like him. He will grrr at other pictures of dogs but I watch his eyes and he takes every bit of Miles in. Love your photos and love having vicarious adventures thru them!
Hi Kelli! How cute that Reggie enjoys photos of Miles. Just don’t let him see the ones where Miles wants to chase any and all wildlife — it sounds like Reggie is more relaxed than Miles about that. ? I am so happy you guys enjoy our photos ☺️
Beautiful photos! Love the subtle colors in the brambles and Miles’ ears flying, not to forget his stylish jacket!! Dare I get another like it for George? They might be twins when they eventually do get together.
Yes, get one for George. He won’t thank you at first as it requires a little practice to get on… But he’ll thank you later in the rain/cold! Here’s to the REAL test — will it help a Welsh Terrier poop faster in a rain storm. I’ll let ya’ll know!!!!!! ?
What a model Miles is! I absolutely love the jumpsuit look. Can I ask if it has an opening for a leash to attach? I’m thinking of getting a 14S b/c Bailey has a 20” chest along with a 14” back and 12” neck.
Hi Gail! Sorry for the delayed response! It has an opening for a harness, but the opening is a bit far back for a leash.. I found leashing Miles really easy. The collar can either be over the thin coat’s neck, or underneath. If it helps, Miles has a 22″ chest and a 12″ neck. I will measure his back when he is not sleeping. Do you know how tall Bailey is at the withers? Miles is about 15 inches.
It was suggested that I get the 14s because the M can fit up to a 27” chest and Bailey is only a 20”. But thanks for the heads up on the leash attachment. It sounds like either would fit for us. She is getting it on Tuesday so I’ll send a pic! Thanks so much. Miles is such a style trender:)
That sounds great! Definitely let me know how the 14S works for you. You’ll love this coat! 🙂
Perfect fit and went right to the door for a walk…. on this sunny day.
