Emma Kesler, CDBC, CPDT-KA is a terrier behavior specialist who has been conducting live online sessions and behavior consultations for nearly a decade. Emma shares her life with her Welsh Terrier, Miles. When Miles was young he was deemed "impossible to train" by a veterinarian and several trainers, who recommended resorting to old punishment-based methods. The quest to figure out how to work terriers in new and different ways became Emma's passion. Miles is Emma's trusted copilot, has set many performance records for terriers, and best of all, helps Emma coach others on how to share absolutely wonderful lives with their terriers.

You take such nice pictures Emma.
Aww thanks Gwen, come join us some time! ❤️
Stunning photos! Such fun to see Miles enjoying the outdoors. Thank you for sharing. Debbie
Thank you so much Debbie, we love the great outdoors 🌲🌲🌲
I must be blinded by all the stunning beauty because I’m not seeing poison oak! No star for me! Gorgeous photos, Emma.
I feel the same way, and did when taking the photos as I didn’t even notice the poison oak! 🌈 Thank you Mary Anne. I am glad you enjoyed our photos!
Beautiful pictures, Emma! …And the little man is lookin’ good! I miss you two!
We miss you too Cathy! I am honored that you enjoyed our photojournal. 📷
Such a lovely Fall! Your photos are a pure delight. In Boston, on the Eastern Seaboard, we have mostly poison ivy, which I am very familiar with. I can spot it a mile away. But I’m gonna guess the photo with Miles jumping over two logs, (he’s facing the photog), in the left corner of the picture, is Poison Oak.
What a beautiful cat walk, and the colours for your Fall foliage look so bright! I love the mossy tree trunks.. there are trees like that on Martha’s Vineyard. Miles scrambling through those pine boughs, and did he see that squirrel? Sally would have liked to have seen a squirrel that close… she always likes a squirrel! But chipmunks are her fav! Miles looks very comfy in his jumper and harness. Such a good hiking pal! I love and miss you.. thanks for the lovely-ness!
Darcy and Sally❤️
Darcy receives the M&E Gold Star Award for Properly IDing Poison Oak ⭐!!!!
Darcy, I often joke to friends and family that any sort of poison ivy/oak/sumac is pretty much the same thing (suffering wise!)! You are the recipient of my gold star for properly identifying the poison oak in this series! Bravo! I’d love to hear more about Sally’s chipmunk/squirrel stories. Miles had lived near both extensively, and only almost caught a squirrel twice now.
Photo prior to last image: poison oak. Gorgeous fall color. Stunning photos. Handsomest Welsh Terrier, Number One Most Titled in the World. Love you and Miles. Thank you for sharing! XO ❤️
Glad you enjoyed Denise! Darcy robbed you of your gold star, dang!!!
Looks to me second yo the end has the poison oak and what a gorgeous fall day. So much fun in the woods!
You got it Sue! Darcy found it before you, but given your detection skills you must come visit us…
I’ve only recently discovered “Miles & Emma”. I’m considering getting my first terrier (although I’ve had many other breeds). They actually have many characteristics same as my whippets; so no cookie-cutter training methods will work very well for them. I’m looking at the Toy Manchester Terrier. Thanks for these beautiful pictures; you’ve brightened my day 🙂 Miles is perfectly camouflaged in the autumn leaves. I love his rain jacket; who makes those?
Stay safe,
Debbie
I completely agree that sighthounds and terriers have a great deal in common. A close friend of mine breeds Manchester terriers! Thank you so much for your sweet comment, I appreciate it so much. ❤️ Info about what Miles is wearing: Hurtta padded harness 🍃 size 24-28 + Hurtta rain jacket 🍂 size 14
Gorgeous photos as always, thanks for educating me, didn’t know about poison oak,
Thinks it’s second from bottom,
Miles is so handsome in his jacket.
Thank you so much Marietta, I am so glad you enjoyed the post!
Thank you for all you informative articles and fun videos and photographs. Where are you from? We try and figure where some of the water photos are taken.
Regards and hugs to you & Miles,
Shawna
Hi Shawna, thank you for your kind comment, I am so glad you find our posts useful! ☺️
Beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing
Thank you LeaAnne! 🙂
My favorite Sally squirrel story is that Sally saw a squirrel in the middle of an open field where she was off leash. She darted off to “get” said squirrel, and actually caught up with it. No trees around. The squirrel knew he was in trouble, so he stopped and stood up on his hind legs and squeaked! Sally didn’t expect this, and also stopped. They stared at each other. Then the squirrel ran again.. Sally ran after it. Again, the squirrel stopped, stood up, and yelled. Again.. Sally stopped, confused. This went on until the squirrel finally reached a tree and ran up it. Sally sat at the base of the tree wondering about her choices, and if she’d let the Welsh Terriers of the world down a bit.. I was glad there was no death involved, and laughed.
Ha, Darcy
That is one SMART squirrel!!!!! Wow!!! What a laugh! 😂😂😂
Your photography is always amazing!!
WOW thank you Susan!!!
Hi Emma,
As always these photos are beautiful. What’s even better is getting to see Miles having a fun time in the middle of nature. Have a question. Is this Point Pelee?
Best wishes,
Jean
Hi Jeannette, you should visit us in the PNW rainforest sometime (when travel is a thing again)! We sure have a lot of fun even if it is pretty wet here sometimes. ☔☔☔
Very nice photos Emma! It was a very welcome break to my day going through this post. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the photos, seeing the beautiful scenery and most of all seeing Miles in nature doing his thing 🙂
Aww thanks Michalis! I feel the same way when Rachael posts adorable videos and photos of Mr. L!!! 😻
Welsh terriers look amazing at all times, but Fall really is made for them isn’t it? Their coppery colouring is just so beautiful with fall foliage. You made me wish it was still fall here instead of cold and frozen and snowy. I love the photos of Miles peeping over things and leaping over things. Also the water ripples around the fallen leaves. Such beauty!!
Hi Danielle! Well, when travel is a thing again, come and visit us in the PNW in the winter for your getaway! We tend to have a pretty prolonged fall. But with that said, please send fun pictures of snowmen! They are a rarity here! ☃️
