Geekily Proud of Myself…

I made Miles a tailored fleece!

Over the holidays I was able to visit my parents for the first time in years which was so special. I was also able to fulfill a long-time dream: to create a tailored fleece for Miles that fits perfectly! I don’t have a sewing machine and to be honest, my sewing skills tend to consist of me getting impatient, cutting the fabric wrong, and putting the pedal to the metal. The first magical thing happened when I was able to get to a local fabric store and find amazing fleece for $10– not a simple feat. The next magical thing happened while my parents were hungry and hoping I would make the dinner I had promised… I entered this hyper-focused zone and cranked out this number in about an hour. And don’t worry, my parents got a great meal after! Miles has been wearing his fleece for the past month non-stop, and I just had to share my geeky pride. Forget huge life stressors and/or achievements… Have you ever succeeded in accomplishing a tiny but awesome personal dream/goal? Share below in the comments!

That looks great, Emma! Well done! Ziba doesn’t like wearing a coat. We put it on, and she freezes in place…won’t move! Instead, we keep her a bit extra “wooly in winter”.

What I love about this one is Miles can wear it permanently basically when it is cold! I wash it when I bathe him. 🙂

My WT, Roxie, is the same! She will not move.

Emma, Your photos are so so good! I love his bespoke fleece! Just perfect! Miles looks so proud to wear it… I love the photo of him skipping cross the cat walk with none of his feet touching the ground!! Good on you, and well done! Love you, Darcy

You did a great job! Im very impressed. Especially since I can’t sew worth a darn, except an emergency button. I’ve always blamed it on a Parochial school education, so I greatly admire that talent in other people. Don’t stop now.

Nice work and great pix, Emma!

We could use one of those for Dewi, who just got his first haircut. He has loved the snow here in Duxbury MA, but we are expecting 18″ of snow on Saturday, which may change his attitude!

    All the best,

    Paul & Jane Wales

Emma! It looks great, and it’s such nice colours and pattern on Miles. As someone who sews, I’m impressed! I couldn’t produce something so well tailored in an hour. But I’m also not surprised – you can do anything you put your mind to, and should have all the faith in the world in yourself. I hope you and Miles will proudly show off his cool style all around town!

I started with a coat I dont like to back up my own measurements of Miles (I swear, measurements can stray like wild animals with me) and then basically went wild with tailoring, like stopping, holding stuff up against Miles, pinning… A lot of treats went down the hatch throughout! I want to try to make a second next time I am near a sewing machine to verify that the patter I made is accurate or not.

Well done Emma! Miles looks so happy and comfortable. The composition of your photos is wonderful as always. Lily had a fleece with a similar pattern that was always my favorite. More than anything I am so glad you were able to visit your parents!

Thank you Elise, on all counts. I am so grateful too about being able to spend time with family, finally. My mom helped with the photos! Do you have a photo memory of Lily in her fleece?

Ok, now you have to get a team to make these on mass and sell at a profit for every Welsh Terrier, and like-sized terriers, too! Just what you need in your busy life—a side hustle. 🙄 Soft and cozy. George would love it! Congrats!! ❤️

Hi Emma and Miles!!! It’s so much more fulfilling when you freestyle something! You really get an adrenaline rush when the creative juices are flowing! You will remember this project for the rest of your life! I’m 64 and I still vividly remember sewing projects from my childhood and youth! I think it’s awesome that you took the time to “dream up” what you wanted to make for your special furry friend and made it come to fruition! The love you sewed into it will keep Miles extra cozy!!!
