Miles’ Agility Lifetime Achievement Award

Welsh Terrier Earns Agility Lifetime Achievement Award

In the winter of 2019 no one knew what would come in 2020. All I knew last November was that I was recovering from being sick for months (which now seems very trivial), there was one little trial left, and Miles was close to achieving his Lifetime Achievement Award. I considered waiting until 2020 because the last trial of 2019 was going to be very small and very cold. A few friends told me “you never know what will happen, you need to go for it now!” Were they ever right, and I am so glad I listened. Even though the trial was small and cold, the group of friends and the celebration that evening were anything but.

I hope you enjoy the following video! Please share some virtual celebratory chocolate mousse with me while you watch it (and some of Miles’ freshly cooked meat for any dog friends watching)!

Thank you Kimberley! I like proving that a dog like Miles who wouldn’t make eye contact for the first few months and was wild as could be can retain the wild but crave working! I appreciate your kind words.

Sally and I watched the video over and over… then we had treats while watching it one more time! I cheered so loudly and Sally howled and barked. I can not even say in words how very proud I am of both of you… following your journey has been one of the most uplifting things of my life. I just love you both and consider myself privileged to have been on this trip with you from the beginning.
So much love to you Emma and Miles! From Sally and Darcy❣️

I need to get videos of Welsh Terriers watching other Welsh Terriers — haha! Miles has a Smooth Fox Terrier friend who will chase him around the agility course and he doesn’t mind a bit — so he would send an open invite to Sally, if only he knew she was interested! I am grateful I met you through this blog, grateful for your support, and so honored to be a part of your life!

Thank you Mary Anne! I have considered getting Miles a more edgy collar with those pyramid studs on it. Maybe he has earned it now!

    Dear Emma and Miles,

I loved re watching your final Master Standard and am so glad I was there to see it in person. A wonderful achievement . I remember trialing with you in the very beginning so many years ago. You have worked so hard – you and Miles deserve every bit of this Lifetime Achievement Award. Way to go.

Dear Brenda! Thank you for the thoughtful comment, it is really emotional to read it. We grew up together in agility! I watch you now and am in awe of your handling. I can’t wait to toast you in the future for Lifetime! 🙂

It was a very special day, you could hear a pin drop when you were running as we all waited in anticipation.

    Congrats again

The one time it is silent not from awkwardness!!! One time Miles and I had this great run, I was feeling so proud of myself for remembering the course. Then as I went to get Miles’ leash, it remained quiet. I turned to face the people watching, and everyone starts nodding their heads oddly and silently. I couldn’t figure it out! Turns out I’d walked the course without the last jump and there was still a chance to notice… I could not figure out what they were being so weird about. Ha!

I am honored to be your friend. I hope we can team up in 2021!!! 👯
