I am excited to announce that M&E has recently been awarded with a Maxwell Medallion from the Dog Writers Association of America. This marks the second Maxwell Medallion for M&E. The post Three Popular Human Sayings About Dogs, and What Miles Has to Say About Them” won best illustration for 2015.

My sister sent me this beautiful hand-drawn congratulations card. Clearly she can draw better than I can, by far! Too funny that that is what the award was for.
My drawing instructor said I was a terrible drawer and nearly failed me, and suggested I stick with other kinds of art. I was told pretty much the same thing about training a Welsh Terrier. Life is full of people saying what others can and can’t do. The reality is, there is always going to be someone more skilled, more steady, and/or more consistent. Sparks and ideas are another kind of skill. They come in waves, ups and downs. It can be tough to a sparks and ideas kind of person, or dog. Miles taught me to put value into our kind.
